Concept

In video games, dying has never been a problem. You restart. You learn. You move on. You are immortal.

But one question remains: what if that immortality wasn't only about the player, but also the world he gravitates in ?

The Red Potion is one of the most iconic objects in the History of video games. Commonly found, very consumed by every player, it heals… and we don't know more about it.

In Potion Rouge, we imagined its origin.

A strange substance, present throughout nature, flows like sap. It heals. It nourishes. It prevents aging. It has become essential to all forms of life.

Living creatures no longer fall ill. They no longer age. They no longer die… or almost.

Freed from the fear of death, life has evolved differently. The world has become more brutal, more unstable, more dangerous.

Because only one rule remains: the only possible death… is the one that leaves you no second chance to get back up.

Gameplay

City Builder

City Builder

You build your city on the flanks of the Adenis, platform by platform. Each level of the tree opens new possibilities: new buildings, new resources, new constraints. Verticality is the game's true distinguishing feature: the positioning of your constructions has a direct impact on your city's efficiency and your inhabitants' well-being. From observation platforms, you also map the surrounding world to identify resources and areas to explore.

Dungeon Crawler

From your city, you send groups of Adens to explore the Endesols, underground remnants of vanished societies, filled with enemies and rare resources. You control your adventurers in combat, choose their formation and manage their skills. The resources recovered directly fuel your city's development. Death is permanent: an Adène who falls on an expedition does not return.

Events regularly emerge and force you to make decisions that affect your city and its inhabitants. Four cultures coexist on the Adenis, each with its beliefs, conflicts and complementarities. The game deals with immortality and memory, the difficulty of building a society surrounded by hostile nature, and what must be sacrificed for it to develop. There is no right answer: every choice has lasting consequences.

Jazz Développement is an independent French video game studio, founded in October 2023 by Ugo Grange and Benjamin Wolff. United by the same conviction for twenty years: that video games are capable of making us feel, think and question the world as deeply as a great novel or a memorable film. They decided to make it their life's project.

Today, we are around ten people bringing Potion Rouge to life: developers, 3D artists, narrative designer, composer, art direction, communication. We work in a spirit of listening, mutual support and sharing, with an organization where everyone has their place and contributes fully to building the project.

Our editorial vision rests on three pillars: narrative coherence, every mechanic serves the story; depth of subject matter, nature, society, belief, transmission, death; reflection and poetry, games that invite thought. Potion Rouge is our first statement. A game about immortality and memory, about what must be sacrificed for a society to grow.
